Traditional or Self Publishing for Poetry

by anonymous

Is traditional publishing or self publishing the best option for poetry publication? Especially when the author is faced with financial hardship.

ANSWER:

I'd go the traditional route, especially at first. You want to establish a name for yourself and create a bit of a following before you publish a collection of poems.

Publication in respected magazines and journals validates your work, for you and for others.

If you're also strapped for cash, you'll want people paying you for your poems. You won't want to have to pay to have them self published.
