Register by September 2, 2011
Contest dates: September 3-5, 2011
Entry fee: $50-$55
The 3-Day Novel Contest is a notorious literary marathon that forces writers to produce an entire novel in 72 short hours. Since it's birth as a dare in a Vancouver bar in 1977, the contest has encouraged thousands of writers from all over the world to find out what kind of ideas they can produce under pressure. First prize is paid publication, 2nd prize is $500, and 3rd prize is $100, but the real prize for everyone who gives it their all is one crumpled, coffee-stained, typo-ridden first draft of a novel. (Plus a nifty certificate.)
