No compensation for articles sent in about your dating experiences

I am writing a book about senior dating experiences. I have an ad in asking seniors to volunteer their experiences for my book. I have been asked why I am not paying for their article. I am not sure how to answer this question correctly. Can you help me?

You are not paying for their articles because you asked for volunteers to make submissions. Volunteers by definition do not receive payment.
