JANUARY 31, 2012 The Creative Nonfiction Down Under Essay Contest PRIZE: $6500 AUS

The literary magazine Creative Nonfiction, in association with the Australian arts company, Tashmadada, seeks new essays for a special "Australia" issue. We're looking for a variety of perspecitves--from locals, expats, tourists, or anyone else--and will consider essays of all forms and focuses as long as Australia's landscape, people, and/or culture are prominentely featured; the stories are true; and submissions are previously unpublished. Submissions should be: 4,000 words max, written in a narrative form with vivid scenes, compelling characters and a distinctive voice. Reading fee applies; $9,000 in cash prizes; winners receive publication in issue, which will be launched at the 2012 Melbourne Writers' Festival.
