Leap Local Travel Story Competition

Leap Local?s annual travel story competition awards a $500 first prize and two $150 runners-up prizes for a 500-650 word story. The judging is blind and the competition is open to both professional and amateur writers. Stories can be humorous, life changing, adventurous, surprising, beautiful, or ugly, but should involve experiences with locals or culture unique to the travel destination. While Leap Local is a responsible tourism organization that supports locals in tourism, especially in developing nations, the stories do not have to be positive local experiences and can include culture clash, misunderstandings and danger. The competition is judged by a professional panel of authors, editors, travel writers and journalists.
