31st August 2010, Free Phrase Writing Competition $200 (AUD)

* The competition is open to all writers for free.
* Participants should write in the two main languages of Diasporic, Greek or English.
* It is a competition for the best 10-word literary phrase. It can be at least 7 words in length and not exceeding 10 words, and the phrases are to be sent to the electronic address of Diasporic which is: diasporic.literature@gmail.com – No other submission method will be accepted.
* The literary phrase that will be awarded should be unique and authentic. It cannot have been published in the past, have a didactic message, and finally belong to the writer who submits it.
* The topic of the competition is “Nature, as the creator of life” however any phrase about nature is welcome.
* The competition starts on August 1st and expires on August 31st, 2010 (or earlier if 100 entries are received). Diasporic writers have an extra 10 days prior to the date of expiry to submit their work for judging. Only the first 100 entries in total will be considered. If the 100 entries are reached prior to the 31st August 2010, submissions will close.
* There will be a first prize of $200 (AUD) and a second prize of $100 (AUD) for each language.
* If not more than 10 entries are received for any one language this language will be removed from the competition and the funds will be distributed to the third, fourth and fifth winners of the other language (at $100 each).
* A writer may take part in only one of the two languages with one to five separate entries.
* The phrases will be judged by those writers who took part themselves but who cannot vote for their own work. Hence those who do not take part in the competition cannot vote. A person who takes part in the competition can vote for up to three literary phrases which are not their own by leaving their name during voting.
* Awarded phrases will be the ones which receive the highest number of votes. The voting will be carried out in private on the Diasporic website at some future date after the closing date of the competition.
* Only the person who will count the voting and two extra persons (one for each language) assigned the job of checking the counting will be aware of what each participant has voted for. The two extra persons will be assigned the counting position prior to the commencement date.
